Emily Dunleavy, MA, LPC

Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFT-Associate), supervised by Dr. Keith Cobern, LMFT-S, LPC-S. Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.

Emily enjoys working with children, teenagers, adults, and couples. Her main areas of focus include relationship concerns, anxiety, people-pleasing, depression, parenting, overthinking and self-criticism, trauma recovery, sexual concerns, and recovery from purity culture.

You may be a good fit for Emily if:

  • You’re highly self-aware but still feel emotionally stuck or disconnected.

  • You overthink, self-criticize, or struggle with feeling “good enough.”

  • You’re healing from relational trauma, family dysfunction, or purity culture.

  • You want to improve your relationships but feel trapped in unhealthy patterns.

  • You’re looking for a therapist who balances deep healing with warmth and humor.

At the heart of Emily’s work is the belief that we are made for connection and wholeness. She creates a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, past experiences, and relational patterns without fear of judgment. Whether you’re feeling the weight of self-doubt, navigating complex family dynamics, or trying to unlearn harmful beliefs from the past, therapy with Emily is a place to unpack it all.

Using a mix of experiential, attachment-based, and person-centered approaches, she helps clients understand their stories, reconnect with themselves, and create new ways of relating to self and others. Therapy can be deep, but it doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time—Emily brings warmth, humor, and a down-to-earth approach to the process. Understanding that knowing all the “right” things doesn’t always lead to change, she helps clients bridge the gap between intellectual knowledge and felt experience.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. A fuller, more connected life is possible—Emily is here to help you take the first step.

Emily offers sessions both in-person and online. To schedule an appointment, you can contact Emily at emily@havenhouse-counseling.com or 817-330-4040.
