Catherine Langston, M.S., LPC
Catherine is a Licensed Professional Counselor with several years of experience in multiple mental health settings. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a double minor in Sociology and Gender Studies from Texas A&M University. She received her Master of Science degree in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Catherine has completed the necessary coursework and hours to become a Registered Play Therapist.
Catherine, or “Mrs. Cat” as her younger clients call her, works with children, adolescents, and young adults. She utilizes play therapy with children, and activity therapy, expressive arts therapy, and talk therapy with adolescents and adults. She believes that when given a safe, accepting environment, all people, regardless of age, have the ability to strive towards personal growth and fulfillment. As a person-centered therapist, Catherine trusts both in the power of the unconditionally accepting therapeutic relationship, and in her client’s capacity to heal and change. Catherine meets her clients where they are and approaches each relationship as a collaborative partnership. She allows her clients to lead the way, but she stays with them at every step of the journey. Catherine also strongly believes in partnering with parents when working with minor clients and collaborates with parents throughout the therapy process.
Catherine has a significant amount of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. Her primary experiences are providing play, activity, and talk therapy in a private practice setting. Catherine also worked in the Springdale and Fayetteville public school districts in Northwest Arkansas where she gained experience running play therapy groups. She also has experience working with young adults outside of her role as a counselor, such as working at The University of Arkansas’s Autism Support Program, where she spent three years helping college students with autism navigate the social and academic challenges of college life. Catherine is particularly passionate about helping clients work through anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, life transitions, behavioral issues, trauma, and grief.
