Katie Edmondson is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (LPC-Intern) under the supervision of Jennifer Dougherty, Ph.D, LPC-S, RPT-S. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Abilene Christian University and her Master of Science in Counseling with a specialization in Play Therapy, from the University of North Texas. Katie is a member of the counseling honor society, Chi Sigma Iota and a member of the North Texas Chapter of the Play Therapy Association (NTC-APT).
Katie is specially trained in play, activity, and talk therapy with children and adolescents from ages 3-18. Katie creates a warm and safe environment for her clients, and strongly believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship. Katie has worked with a wide array of childhood experiences such as abuse, low self-esteem, eating disorders, and a range of behavioral issues. Katie equally values the relationship with the parent and involves the parent in all elements of therapy.
Katie has professional experience in a variety of settings such as non-profit agencies, inpatient facilities, and community counseling centers. Along with seeing children and adolescents, she also sees adult clients and families as she has experience with trauma and crisis situations across the lifespan. Katie is currently working at the Eating Recovery Center along with Flower Mound Counseling.
